Bane [The Dark Knight Rises]

from $8.00

I am an unabashed Nolan fan and consider the Nolan Batman trilogy to be of my favorite films, superhero or otherwise. I have issues with the Batman part of them, to be honest (costume, voice) but the films as a whole never cease to thrill me. The version of Bane cooked up for The Dark Knight Rises was next level for me. I love Tom Hardy, and the way they pulled elements of the comic look into the vest and bare arms was excellent. The use of the mask was very clever: creating the alienating, isolating, mysterious quality that referenced his own experience, the way this became the ‘juice’ delivery system in a way, and the means by which obscuring the mouth became the inverse of the comic and animated series mask was extremely impressive to me. I was Bane for Halloween, in fact! Now, that all said, while I love the look of the character overall, the mask is what I wanted to focus on. Mask, crazy eyes, smashed cowl. And here we are!
