Black Panther [MCU]
This piece was completed shortly after seeing the Black Panther film for the first time. I was taken by the subtle design work in the Black Panther costume and how the necklace imagery was incorporated, and how the design evokes both the past and the future in an almost effortless way. I do wish Killmonger’s version was white, or similarly diversified, but Marvel tends to have that samesies hero/villain third act problem. My first version of this print was exceptionally dark, but I tweaked it to amplify the colors and lighten the composition, which brought eyeballs to the table. My favorite detail is T’Challa holding Killmonger’s necklace, a symbolic gesture to be sure. EDIT: Very sad to learn of Chadwick Boseman’s passing. The silent burden of fighting cancer this entire journey… impressive and tragic.
